Running for a Future Without Childhood Cancer

I’m lacing up my shoes and hitting the pavement for Walk for Kids with Cancer—not just for the run, but for the brave young fighters facing this devastating disease. No child should have to battle cancer, yet every year in Australia, more than 1,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed. While survival rates are among the best in the world, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death for kids under 15, taking 92 young lives each year.

The most common childhood cancers—leukemia, brain tumors, and neuroblastoma—require aggressive treatments that take an enormous toll on young bodies and minds. Families endure months or even years of hospital stays, financial strain, and emotional hardship.

That’s why on Sunday, 23 March 2025, I’m walking for kids with cancer to support the Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF). Funds raised will go directly to the frontlines of children’s healthcare, including the Kids Cancer Centre at Randwick and the Cancer Centre for Children at Westmead.
